very nice trail enjoy it very much being close to home, hope it can be exdendent more and reopen access at the Greene Cove Yacht Club.
The trail was in good shape. We enjoyed riding through the Greer and National tunnels.
I rode the Ohio River Trail from South Wheeling to Wellsburg Sunday, May 12 - about 20 miles each way - and enjoyed its varied views of Wheeling and surrounding area. Might have earned five stars, except for few deficiencies. (1) Just two restroom facilities along the entire trail. Just. Two. Potties. (2) Asphalt generally okay - some minor root damage. Also a nasty short stretch of Rt. 2 berm-riding north of town. (3) Trailside "areas of interest" signage deteriorated and nearly illegible. Also, few mile markers and no point-to-point distance signage. (4) Trail runs adjacent to several historic Wheeling neighborhoods - but if you didn't know they were there, you'd ride right past. Pretty good trail - needs maintenance and some TLC.
This trail map does not show how to navigate out of Pittsburgh… specifically the first few miles with a notable gap across Smithfield Street!
Usually hit this trail a few times a year. It's 7.5 ish miles in length, paved and follows the North Shore along Lake Arthur. There are many small hills and numerous turns. By all means this trail is far from straight! Trail starts at the bike rental (seasonal) and ends at Davis Marina where there is a beautiful view of the lake. Yellow line up the center of the trail has been recently painted. This park also offers boating, fishing, a beach, picnic areas, hiking (North Country Trail) disc golf and cabin rentals. Visit Moraine State Park website for more information.
Only made 20 minutes into my ride. Got a flat tire on the Ohio side of the trail. PA side was good.
Unless you enjoy open trail along mostly highways & backyards I'd choose another trail. Only bonus to this trail is that it's paved. Definitely not scenic, bring lots of water on a hot day & lots of sunscreen as it's mostly sunny.
First ride on this trail—totally enjoyable! Rode from Brookville S White St trailhead to Hanover…approx 38 miles rt. Highly recommend. Well maintained, nice surface, scenic, clean restrooms, and all that stuff.
WHat an amazing trail we did roaring run into furnace rock loved it. Starts off very simple then head into furnace rock is more wooded
The trail was fairly well-maintained sections of the of the trail had a lot of root heaves, which made the riding a little rough. There was a couple of road crossings that had jagged metal supports sticking up from the ground for posts that should’ve been there, if you’re not careful you might run over one as they’re not well marked.
I loved the trail very east, I like the furnace trail better more wooded area very beautiful
